The first confirmed date of Aerosmith‘s upcoming North American tour has been revealed.  The Boston rockers will travel up to Newfoundland, Canada, to headline the Freshwater Suzuki Salmon Festival on July 14.  Serving as the group’s official opening act will be Cheap Trick, and Uncle Kracker also is on the bill.  Additional artists will be added to the event, which will take place in Centennial Field in Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland.

Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler recently reported that the band’s stateside tour would kick off on June 18, but no official announcement has been issued yet.

Meanwhile, Tyler is very excited about how Aerosmith’s new studio album is coming together.  Speaking backstage at American Idol on Thursday, the singer gushed about the sessions, “Joe [Perry]‘s got the passion, Brad [Whitford]‘s on fire, Joey [Kramer]‘s insane, Tom [Hamilton]‘s writing “Sweet Emotion” licks.  It’s nuts…We hit on a couple songs…Just wait, you’re not gonna believe it.”
