After the Eagles finish up the handful of spring concerts on their schedule, bass player Timothy B. Schmit will hit the road for a brief U.S. solo tour. Schmit will play a total of a dozen shows in Texas and on the East Coast, beginning with a June 19 gig in Cherokee, Texas, and finishing up with a June 9 stop in Newton, New Jersey.
“What I like best about doing solo shows is it gives me a chance to interact with the audience in a smaller, more intimate setting,” the bassist says in a statement. He adds, however, “I very much enjoy being a part of the Eagles and all it implies…I’m a fortunate man. I get the best of both worlds.”
At the concerts, Schmit and his backing group will be playing selections from the Eagles and his former band Poco, as well as some of his solo material, including songs from his latest album, 2009′s Expando.
By the way, all of Schmit’s Eagles band mates — Glenn Frey, Don Henley and Joe Walsh — also have at least one solo show lined up in the coming months. Visit Pollstar.com to find out details of those concerts.
