After being hospitalized with pneumonia this past week, Bee Gee Robin Gibb is now in a coma. A statement on Gibb’s official website confirmed numerous reports that the singer was very ill: it reads, “Sadly the reports are true that Robin has contracted pneumonia and is in a coma. We are all hoping and praying that he will pull through.”
This past week, Gibb was forced to miss the premiere of his new classical composition, The Titanic Requiem, on which he’d collaborated with his, Robin-John, aka RJ.
Gibb originally had planned to participate in the show and sing “Don’t Cry Alone,” the only Titanic Requiem track to which he contributed vocals. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has been fighting the same intestinal ailment that caused the death of his twin brother and Bee Gees band mate, Maurice, and also has been treated for colon and liver cancer, although he recently reported that he’s in remission from the disease.
