Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr perform three songs together on the Change Begins Within concert special airing tonight on PBS. The benefit for the David Lynch Foundation was taped in 2009 in New York City and was their first performance together in seventeen years.

During the special the two surviving Beatles perform separate sets and share the stage for “Cosmically Conscious,” “I Saw Her Standing There,” and “With a Little Help from My Friends.”

The show will get it’s PBS premiere on New York’s WNET Thirteen at 10:30 p.m.,  with a reairing set for Tuesday, May 1 at 3:30 a.m.  In addition the show will air on New York’s WLIW21 on May 5 at 10 p.m. and May 6  at 1:30 a.m.  It is expected to be offered to other PBS affiliates so check your local listings. 

The concert also features Eddie Vedder, Jerry Seinfeld, Ben Harper, Sheryl Crow, Donovan and others.

The mission of the David Lynch Foundation is to teach Transcendental Meditation to a million at-risk students, veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and victims of domestic abuse and violence.  The Beatles made news in 1968 when they embraced Transcendental Meditation as they visited the Maharishi in India.
