PITTSBORO–Troopers say speed is likely the culprit in a one vehicle accident Friday evening that seriously injured at least four persons. 19 year Chelsea Cooper of Pittsboro ran off Lystra Road, over corrected, veered off the other side of the road and struck a tree. Troopers say they believe that Cooper was driving well-above the 45-mph speed limit. Charges are pending. Cooper and her passengers Elizabeth Brown, 41, Katie Barnes, 16 and Jason Barnes, 14, all of Pittsboro, were all transported to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
