Southern Pines- A five block section of Broad Street in Southern Pines between Vermont and Massechusetts Avenues will be getting a new surface in early July. The work is part of a $1.5 million resurfacing contract awarded to S.T. Wooten Corp. The contractor will be doing the milling and paving at night to lessen the impact on traffic and local businesses. The work is scheduled to start at 6pm daily and wrap up by 6am the next day. Its anticipated the project will be completed by July 14th. To help reach that goal, motorist are being asked to avoid on-street parking on East and West Broad streets during the 6pm to 6am contstruction time.
