At least two of The Doors‘ three surviving members are set to take part in the fifth annual Sunset Strip Music Festival, which will celebrate the legendary Los Angeles band with a variety of performances and other events.  Guitarist Robby Krieger will be playing a special show with founding Black Crowes guitarist Rich Robinson on August 17 at L.A.’s Viper Room club in conjunction with the festival, which runs August 16-18.  Krieger and Robinson recently have been collaborating in a side project called The Roadhouse Rebels.

The same night as Krieger’s gig, Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek will be a special guest at pioneering L.A. punk group X‘s concert at the Roxy.  The show will feature X performing its entire 1980 debut album, Los Angeles, which was produced by Manzarek.

The 2012 Sunset Strip Music Festival kicks off with an invitation-only, all-star Doors tribute concert at the House of Blues.  A lineup for the event has not yet been announced.  Other artists slated to participate in the three-day fest include hard-rock groups Quiet Riot, The Offspring, Marilyn Manson, Black Label Society and rap acts RZA and De La Soul.

A percentage of the proceeds raised by the Sunset Strip Music Festival will benefit the Impact Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center, a Pasadena, California, facility that aids people struggling with substance abuse.
