Neil Young is one of a handful of famous rock guitarists who have donated signed instruments to an auction that will help raise money for musicians and other people affected by Hurricane Sandy, the devastating storm that hit the Eastern Seaboard last month. The sale, hosted by CharityBuzz, will benefit the Sweet Relief Eastern Musicians Fund.
Young has contributed Gretsch Chet Atkins Country Gentleman guitar to the auction, which runs until this Monday. Other items up for bid include signed Fender Telecasters from Peter Frampton and The Police‘s Andy Summers and a Fender Stratocaster autographed by founding Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore.
Meanwhile, just a reminder that Young’s special benefit concert with Crazy Horse to raise funds for the American Red Cross’ efforts to aid victims of Hurricane Sandy is scheduled for this Thursday night in Atlantic City, New Jersey. AtlanticCityWeekly.com reports that the show, which will take place at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, will feature opening acts Everest and Phish singer/guitarist Trey Anastasio.
