Home / Classic Hits News / Will Jon Bon Jovi Take Home Gold at the Golden Globes?

The nominees for the 2013 Academy Awards were announced on Thursday, but Jon Bon Jovi missed out on a Best Original Song nod for his solo tune “Not Running Anymore,” from the upcoming movie Stand Up Guys.  However, the New Jersey rocker’s song still is in the running for a similar trophy at this year’s Golden Globe Awards ceremony, which takes place Sunday night.

The 50-year-old singer is up against some stiff competition for the prize — his fellow nominees include Adele, for the theme to the latest James Bond flick, Skyfall; Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars, for the song “Safe & Sound” from The Hunger Games; and Keith Urban, for “For You” from Act of Valor.  However, history may be on Jon’s side: He actually won this category once before, back in 1991, with “Blaze of Glory,” the song he wrote for the movie Young Guns II.  Then again, that tune was a huge hit; this one hasn’t been heard by many people, since the movie isn’t even out yet.

Another factor that could be in Bon Jovi’s favor is that the Best Original Song trophy has been handed out to a slew of popular rock artists.  Among the other previous winners in the category are Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam‘s Eddie Vedder, Mick Jagger, U2, Sting and Bob Dylan.

NBC airs the 70th Golden Globe Awards live from Beverly Hills, California, starting at 8 p.m. ET.
