An animated video recently premiered online that’s accompanied by audio of Paul McCartney performing an apparently new, acoustic version of “Heart of the Country,” a tune he recorded with his late wife, Linda, for 1971’s Ram album. On Tuesday, Sir Paul posted a Twitter message that reads, “Great to see Linda animation up on YouTube — looks great — love it,” along with a link to the clip.
The video offers a whimsical cartoon depiction of Linda, accompanied by a variety of human and animal characters, as she takes photographs, plays instruments and cooks and distributes food. The rendition of “Heart of the Country” features just vocals, strummed guitar and harmonica.
Although no official details about the video have been announced, NME reports that speculation has been circulating that the clip may be part of a new ad campaign for the Linda McCartney Foods brand of vegetarian meals.
