The Grammy Awards may be over, but Wednesday night in London, some of the music world’s biggest stars will be competing for Brit Awards, the U.K.’s top music prize.  The Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen are among the acclaimed U.K. and international acts in the running for trophies at the event.

The Stones are one of the nominees for the British Live Act prize, even though they only played two concerts in the U.K. during 2012.  The legendary rockers have never won a Brit, and have only been nominated three other times, most recently in 1996 in the Best British Video category.

The Boss is vying for the International Male Solo Artist award.  The nomination is Springsteen’s 10th Brit nod overall, although he’s only won one trophy — for Best International Solo Artist back in 1986.

Last month, U.K.’s Daily Star newspaper reported that The Rolling Stones had been tapped to close the Brits ceremony with a medley of their hits.  However, there’s been no confirmation that the rock icons will be performing at the gala, which will be held at the O2 Arena.
