Neil Young is among the stars who appear on a new live album recorded during country legend Willie Nelson‘s 80th birthday concert, which took place on April 18 at ex-White Stripes frontman Jack White‘s Third Man Records headquarters in Nashville.
Titled Willie Nelson & Friends Live at Third Man Records, the 12-song set includes performances of Nelson singing some of his classic tunes with Young, White and such other artists as Sheryl Crow, Leon Russell, Norah Jones, Jamey Johnson and Ashley Monroe. In addition, the album features Young performing his 1976 gem “Long May You Run” with Nelson, and Russell singing his memorable “A Song for You” with Willie.
Willie Nelson & Friends Live at Third Man Records will be available only as a vinyl LP package to members of White’s Third Man Records subscription series, The Vault. Subscribers also will receive a six-inch vinyl record featuring Nelson and White performing “Red Headed Stranger” together in Third Man’s Voice-O-Graph Recording Booth. A double-sided poster sporting pictures of Nelson and the Third Man Records logo also will be included in the package, along with a Third Man Records branded sticker, lapel pin and record topper. Vault package #17 will be available to all subscribing members until July 31.
The same concert was the subject of an episode of CMT Crossroads that premiered on the CMT network a couple of weeks ago. You can still watch the program online at CMT.com.
