Patti Smith, Joan Baez and Jack White are part of a star-studded lineup of musicians set to perform at a benefit concert on September 29 at Town Hall in New York City.
Dubbed “Another Day, Another Time: Celebrating the Music of Inside Llewyn Davis,” the event will feature performances of songs from the upcoming Coen Brothers film’s soundtrack, as well as tunes from the 1960s folk era that inspired it. Other artists set to take the stage for the event include Mumford & Sons frontman Marcus Mumford, The Avett Brothers, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, The Decemberists‘ Colin Meloy and Conor Oberst, as well as actors Oscar Isaac, John Goodman and Mumford’s wife, Carey Mulligan, who appear in the flick.
Proceeds from the concert will go to the National Recording Preservation Foundation, a non-profit organization affiliated with the Library of Congress, to help preserve America’s recorded sound history.
According to the movie’s official website, Inside Llewyn Davis is about “a singer-songwriter [who] navigates the Greenwich Village folk scene of 1961.” The soundtrack for Inside Llewyn Davis will be released on September 17, while the film is expected to arrive in theaters on December 6.
