Jon Bon Jovi attended a charity event Tuesday in London, where he got to perform one of his band’s classic hits with some help from a pop princess and a real-life prince. The New Jersey rocker teamed up with Taylor Swift and Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, for a rendition of “Livin’ on a Prayer,” at the Winter Whites Gala, which was held at Prince William’s home, Kensington Palace.
According to U.K. newspaper The Telegraph, in addition to performing, Bon Jovi was presented with the Centrepoint Great Britain Youth Inspiration Award for his work with humanitarian causes. Prince William is a longtime patron of Centrepoint, which aids homeless youth, the organization aided by the gala.
The Daily Mail, reports that Jon, who attended the gala with his wife and some of his kids, convinced the prince to hit the stage with him, although William apparently said he’d only do it of Swift joined them too.
Bon Jovi explained to The Daily Mail that he wasn’t intimidated to meet William because “I [already] met his father [Prince Charles] and I met his grandfather [Prince Phillip]. He’s still a young kid to me, but a nice young kid.”
He added that he one day hopes to sing with William’s young son, Prince George, as well.
Incidentally, Prince William’s performance at the benefit wasn’t the first time he entertained an audience by belting out “Livin’ on a Prayer”: He’s said to have performed a karaoke version of the tune at the wedding of one of his cousins.
