Stevie Nicks will receive a special honor at the 62nd Annual BMI Pop Awards, which will be held May 13 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.
The Fleetwood Mac singer will be this year’s recipient of the BMI Icon Award, presented annually by the music-rights organization Broadcast Music, Inc. The award recognizes artists for their “unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers.”
BMI’s Barbara Cane says in a statement, “Stevie Nicks is an extraordinary songwriter and pedigree artist of stunning genius and unwavering grace, on and off the stage. She has defined an era of pop and rock culture around the world with her brilliance and unforgettable magnificence.”
The BMI Pop Awards ceremony will include an all-star musical tribute to NIcks.
Past recipients of the BMI Icon Award include Paul Simon, John Fogerty, Brian Wilson, Carole King, Crosby, Stills & Nash, The Bee Gees, Carlos Santana, The Jacksons, Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson.
