  • State’s highest honor presented posthumously

    SANFORD–Sanford Mayor Chet Mann called it a fiting occasion to honor the memory of one of its own. The Order of the Long Leaf Pine was presented, posthumously, to the widow of the late Walter McNeil, who was the longest sitting city council member and the originator of Sanford’s NNO.   • Another nutritious meal will be served to children Wednesday

    Thanks to a joint effort of helping organizations and two local churches, many children who ordinarily would go hungry during the day are getting a nutritious meal three times weekly until school starts. The second feeding is scheduled Wednesday at Jonesboro United Methodist Church and First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.   • A great night for NNO
